During 2008, CBC successfully negotiated terms for providing technical (O&M) expertise into a major contractor consortium led by Austrian Companies Strabag and Porr, with co-partner MacQuarie Bank (based in London). This was initially in connection with the second PPP ‘Tranche’, on the R1 National Road, but later covered working on the third PPP tranche on the D1 Motorway as well. Our services were centred on the local knowledge and technical expertise of Ing Marian Purtz, a CBC employee and Slovak national. For 6 months of the main tender during in 2008 and early 2009, Marian was based in Bratislava (capital of Slovakia) and worked largely out of the contractors offices in Vienna.

This Central European Business Development Plan has been prepared as a vision for consolidating and expanding the services we provide into the significant markets emerging in the CEE countries, and builds not only on the work on the PPP during 2008 and early 2009, but CBC’s extensive previous experience in the region.

Overview

CBC has developed contacts in the region over the past ten years or more. We have refreshed our knowledge of the current market, in particular in Slovakia and Czech Republic,. and believe that in the long term now that Countries in the region are members of the EU and committed to infrastructure development that the long term prospects of this growing are very good.
